Private Judging
Since 1984 the Ohio Revised Code has allowed retired judges to register with the Ohio Supreme Court to serve as "private judges." Although this section has been around for over 30 years, relatively few attorneys and even fewer lay persons know of its existence. Not every case should be handled by a private judge, but there are cases in which the services of a private judge might be required.
